Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, the FMCG venture promoted by yoga guru Ramdev, is all set for an initial public offering (IPO) and is eyeing a valuation of Rs 20,000 crore.

The Haridwar-based company plans to dilute 10% of its equity in the IPO, which is expected to hit the market in the second half of this year. The public issue will help Patanjali raise Rs 2,000 crore.

"We are looking at a valuation of Rs 20,000 crore. We will be able to mobilise around Rs 2,000 crore through the IPO," Acharya Balkrishna, who is both a director at Patanjali Ayurved and its key promoter, told reporters.

This will be the biggest IPO by an Indian company since 2014 when state-owned Coal India raised Rs 22,000 crore.

The company is currently present in several categories such as food and beverages, personal care, ayurvedic medicine and home care. It has also started venturing into dairy products, apparel and retail.

Ramdev set up Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar in 2006. The institute offers yoga courses and ayurveda treatments. In 2011, he established Patanjali Ayurved to manufacture and sell ayurvedic medicines. The company made a turnover of Rs 10,561 crore in 2016-17 fiscal. It is targeting a turnover of Rs 20,000 crore this fiscal year.

According to reports, the ayurvedic products manufacturer is aiming to achieve sales worth Rs 1 lakh crore in the next five years. It has already started construction of a new production unit at Mihan SEZ in Nagpur with an investment of Rs 1,600 crore. The unit will have a capacity to produce goods worth Rs 25,000 crore annually.
